started as a pin prick
stomach stitch, body horror
at the scene of the first crime were three cuts
three cuts were shut, two stayed shut
one was fucked
a faucet reminder of how they cut me up

there wasn't much of a fight
a passage closed, a blocked right side
doc said "I don't know how you're breathing."
I said "same"
a symptom of my given name

started counting backwards from ten
squinting at the overheads
and the sound of paper on the bed
last thing I noticed was the shutting shut
and the blast of gas before they made the cut
and I remember waking up
