started as a pin prick
stomach stich, body horror

a symptom of my given name
started counting backwards from ten
squinting at the overheads
and the sound of paper on the bed
last thing I noticed was the shutting shut
and the blast of gas before they made the cut
and I remember waking up
thats how they cut me up

line could be cleaner but it's there, imperfect
seeing the flaws sometimes can be what makes it worth it
catching my breath as we walk back from the lake
tracing the through-lines to account for all components
endlessly optimizing every waking moment
but I got ensconced in all the shimmer and the shine
faking nostalgia for a memory that's not mine
it was printed
not handwritten
line could be cleaner but it's there
